Apresar da evolução da colheita de madeira nos últimos anos, o Brasil ocupa a quarta posição entre os países com maior custo de produção, sendo necessária a busca de alternativas, a exemplo de novos subsistemas, que visem o aumento da produtividade e redução dos custos. Objetivou-se com esta pesquisa realizar uma análise técnica e econômica de um harvester operando em dois subsistemas de colheita de madeira de toras curtas. O estudo foi conduzido em uma área de colheita florestal situada no município de Eunápolis – BA. No subsistema 1, o harvester realizava o corte e processamento das árvores. Já no subsistema 2, o corte era realizado por um feller-buncher, o harvester realizava apenas o processamento das toras. A análise técnica compreendeu o estudo de tempos e movimentos, produtividade, disponibilidade mecânica e eficiência operacional. A análise econômica baseou-se na determinação do custo operacional e de produção, análise de sensibilidade e taxa interna de retorno. Os tempos totais dos ciclos operacionais e as produtividades do harvester no subsistema 1 e 2 não diferiram estatisticamente. Obteve-se um custo operacional para o harvester 1 e 2 de US$ 80,86 he-1 e US$ 79,15 he-1, respectivamente. O harvester apresentou o menor custo de produção médio, US$ 2,27 m-3, no subsistema 1. Os resultados do harvester trabalhando no subsistema 2 não são satisfatórios, mediante isso a utilização do subsistema não é viável devido a necessidade de introdução de uma máquina para realizar o corte.
Although there has been advances in wood harvesting in recent years, Brazil ranks fourth among countries with the highest production costs. Therefore the search for alternatives, like new subsystems, is necessary to increase productivity and reduce costs. The objective of this research was to conduct a technical and economic analysis of a harvester operating in two cut-to-length harvesting subsystems. The study was conducted in a forest harvesting area in the municipality of Eunápolis – BA. In subsystem 1, the harvester performed the cutting and processing of trees. In the subsystem 2, cutting was performed by a feller-buncher and the harvester just executed log processing. Technical analysis included the study of time and motion, productivity, mechanical availability and operational effciency. Economic analysis was based on the determination of the operating cost and production, sensitivity analysis and internal rate of return. The total cycle time and productivity of the harvester in the subsystem 1 and 2 did not differed statistically. The operating cost for the harvester 1 and 2 were US $ 80.86 he-1 and US $ 79,15 he-1, respectively. The harvester had the lowest average production cost, US$ 2,27 m-3, in subsystem 1. The results for the harvester working in subsystem 2 are not satisfactory, and, therefore, the use of the subsystem is not viable due to the need to introduce another machine to perform cutting.
